Emergency plumbing, 24/7
Water spreading, sewage coming up, or no water at all: call now, at any hour. CityWide is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, for homes and businesses.
What counts as an emergency
- A burst or leaking pipe Water spraying, dripping through a ceiling or pooling on a floor.
- Sewage backing up Wastewater rising in a tub, shower, floor drain or toilet.
- An overflow that will not stop A toilet or drain that keeps rising after you stop using it.
- No water Nothing at the taps, in the house or the whole building.
- A leaking water heater Water around the base of the tank or at its valves and fittings.
- Water where it should not be Damp walls, a wet ceiling, or a soaked patch of yard over the water line.
Before we arrive
A few minutes now can save a floor, a ceiling or a wall.
- Shut off the water. Close the main shut-off valve. It is usually where the water line enters the house: near the meter, in a basement or crawl space, or near the water heater.
- Turn off the water heater. If the water heater is leaking, switch off its breaker if it is electric, or turn its gas valve to off if it is gas. Then close the cold-water valve on top of the tank.
- If you smell gas, get out. Leave the building first, then call your gas utility or 911 from outside.
- Keep clear of the water. Move valuables and electronics out of the way, and stay away from standing water near outlets or appliances.
- Call CityWide. Call (770) 872-0867 and describe what you see. If you can, take a few photos for the plumber.
